Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God?

I saw this headline while scrolling through my Twitter feed and nearly laughed out loud in the mall right then. Little, stupid statements like that can crack me up from time to time. But the more I thought about it, the more I began to realize that this, however bizzare it might seem to me, –because I know the answer– is a legitimate question that people wonder about.

One second-, this is a total tangent, but as I’m writing this, I’m sitting in the back seat of a car as my grandma is trying to drive to Chili’s. I’m reminded of a comedy bit by Tommy Blaze about those blasted one-way roads in Florida, (except this time I’m in LA, but it still applies). He’s like: “I see the place, it’s right there, but I can’t turn! So I make a loop around and try to pull into the building and it’s right there, but I still can’t turn! So, I’m in Orlando and have to reroute all the way back to Miami and try it all over again.”

Litterally passed up the restaurant three times already, got onto the highway and couldn’t turn around for 3 miles; turned around, headed back, passed the restaurant, and ended up on the highway again… Crazy.

Anyway, back to topic. Wait-, what was the topic… Ah, Muslims and Christians worshiping the same God. Well, let me first open by saying that any religion that preaches it is glorifying to God and will earn you heaven to kill hundreds and thousands of innocent people, does not honor or worship the God of the Bible. The God of the Christians is a God of love and the God of the Muslims is a God of hate.

Islam is a religion of stifling regulations and oppressive traditions. Those who convert to Christianity from Islam talk of the freedom and liberty of Christ. They say how easy it is to breath. There is no pressure of trying to work for your salvation and earn the love and reward of Christ.

Do you know how rediculous it sounds to a Christian for someone to be trying to earn God’s love? Do you know how logically flawed it is to try and earn God’s love? Love that can be earned is not love worth having. Respect is earned, love is not. But culture and tradition have convinced Muslims otherwise. 

As much as I dislike stereotypes, the teachings of Islam have led to more innocent’s deaths than the teachings of Christianity. Even were I not a partial party for being a believer in Christ, more Muslims become radical and kill in their god’s name than in any other religion. Christians have not ever committed mass slaughter, as a religion, and not ever promoted it for any reason.

Any god that would demand that of his people is no god I serve or would ever want to. Allah, if he were a real god, is a god out of a video game: a god of hate, a god of the sword, and a god of war. I don’t know about you, but that sounds a lot more like Satan than it does like the Almighty Father. 

The Bible is our instruction for life, the Qur’an is their mandate and law book. But the Bible says that we are no longer under the law but under grace. So, no. I don’t believe that Muslims and Christians serve the same God. What about you? Choose you this day, whom will you serve? God, or Allah, (the god of self and inner hate, the god of humanity and it’s evil, wicked heart)?

As a side note and second tangent: I sent a manuscript submission of my first “book” project to a publisher today. It’s an autobiographical telling of stories and answers to questions about my life on a bus. I would ask you all to be in prayer for the publisher to want to promote this project, and its success to kickstart my writing career.

Christmas Cultrolls

Trolls are real; they steal your socks.

What is a Cultroll? That is the question of the hour. Well, a good place to start is by figuring out what troll is. According to Frozen, it’s a dumpy, string-haired, gapped-toothed, rock-person. By Tolkien’s representation it is a large, ugly, brutish creature that turns to stone in the sunlight. But what is it by today’s definition?

Most commonly, people who wander around the internet looking for a fight on social media are reffered to as trolls. People who only have negative and contrary things to say regardless of the topic or even if they believe one side or the other of the arguement. So, a troll is a really obnoxious, constantly negative person on the Internet. Then, what is a Cultroll?

Well, it’s a conjunctive word I just made up. A combination of two words “Culture” and “Troll”. Thus, a culture troll, or a Cultroll, is a real life person who goes trolling for cultural fights and disputes. Cultrolls are everywhere; more commonly called liberals in the political society, these fight-seekers are really only intent on making others as miserable as they. 

During the Christmas season, a different breed of Cultroll emerges, one that has been hibernating all year, waiting for their chance to strike. We see these more clearly for what they truly are, miserly, grinch trolls that ride on Christmas culture and seek for every opportunity to take the joy and pleasure out of others at this time of year.

Cultrolls are fixed on tearing people down, it’s how they feed their own wretched kind of happiness. They are negative by nature, but it’s more than just wanting to tear others down. Christmas Cultrolls are after anything Christmas and anything joyful. Why? Well, because they feel that if they are miserable, so ought everyone else. They’re lonely because of how they distance themselves and create rifts between them and others.

Christmas Cultrolls will try to steal your joy this Christmas season. I say give it to them, just hand over your joy to them. Maybe they’ll catch some of this contagious Christmas spirit.

A Song About a Sandwich

  This is another post that came from a failed song idea. You may discover why the song failed as this post progresses, but the concept is still worthy of note.

The inspiration for this song originated from a single line that randomly popped into my head. That thought was: who on earth would write a song about a sandwich? The irony of that statement was acute when the thought played itself out. 

Let me take you back in time to 80 years ago, when our great grandparents were young. Back in the days of horseless carriages, house phones, and vinyl records, people would have shuddered to think of what we listen to today. The question might have arisen back then: “who on earth would write a song about a one-night-stand?”. Yet, how far have we come since then?

Think about 40 years ago, in the days when our parents were children themselves. Even then, songs were far more conservative than they are today. In the 1970s people might have asked: “who on earth would write a song with explicit language and content?”. Yet we treat it like the non-ideal norm. It’s not what we’d want it to be, but it’s what we have; that’s our attitude towards music today.

So, we come to the title of this post. In today’s world, with the horribly foul and suggestive content of songs, pop culture might ask: “who on earth would write a song about a sandwich?”, as if that is so impossible to fathom. Really, we are questioning people who would write songs about sandwiches, and not those who write and sing songs that uplift sensuality and hate, songs that glorify human desire and animalistic instincts with no point or meaning. Why? Is it such an odd thing to write a song about a sandwich, and it is so normal to write songs about raping and manipulating people?

We’ve fallen into a pattern of worldliness, desensitized to right and wrong, blind to blatant black and white lines. Somehow it’s absolutely normal to sing about passion and lust, but who on earth would right a song about a sandwich?

Something simple, but yet profound. The goal of the song was to point out how people would think it was crazy to write a song about a sandwich, and yet think it’s completely normal what people are writing and singing about today. Thus, the point of the song would be to awaken people to the fact that it shouldn’t be normal to have songs like those that we have today. 

With all of the pointless songs people sing and write, why not have ones that are pointless and at the same time, harmless. Your standard bubblegum pop song is glorifying love or human emotions and pleasure. Why not have songs equally as stupid and yet with a wholesome premise? 
You get my point? No matter how you try to fit it, a song about a sandwich just doesn’t mesh with the world in which we live. Eventually the time will come, eventually we will realize that stupid, pointless music does not lift us up, it tears us down. So I ask you, who on earth would write a song about a sandwich?
